Aranjuez

Visit wineries and the royal orchards and gardens of Aranjuez. Then taste its wines and have lunch with its seasonal products in this World Heritage village.

Gourmet Madrid collects nothing but the best of Aranjuez regarding gastronomy, architecture, landscapes and everything together with the best wines of Madrid, enjoying a different day, just thirty minutes from the capital, at the former spring residence of the Spanish Royal Family.

In our tour, accompanied by a guide, we will visit the village's two wineries. At the winery El Regajal they elaborate the flagship wine of the Denomination of Origin Vinos de Madrid: It is a little familiar winery which has gathered excellent critics along the entire world. Surrounded by vineyards and olive trees, within the Regajal property there is also, one of the greatest natural preserve of butterflies in Europe.

The next winery Real Cortijo de Carlos III was built after orders of King Carlos III in 1782 to provide wine for the Royal House. It has been declared Historic-Artistic Site.

We will visit the historic royal orchard gardens where nationwide reckoned seasonal products sprout, (such as its famous strawberries or its asparagus), in winter, spring, summer or fall. All these fresh products will be tasted in the lunch time.

We will also stroll around the royal palace of Aranjuez and its gardens, with a pioneer urbanism that inspired Maestro Rodrigo in his world famous musical composition, the concert of Aranjuez, and the most performed Spanish piece of music around the world in history ever. The second is, sadly, Macarena.
