What is a naturalwine?

A natural wineis one that is made only with grapes, does not contain any added, nor does it filter. It is intended to be a wine as pure as possible, minimizing human intervention.

According to the Association of Producers of Natural Wines of Spain, there are six basic requirements that all natural winemust meet:

1-The winery has a production that respects nature

Some type of ecological agriculture is practiced, free of chemical fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, systemic fungicides or genetically manipulated organisms. Many times it returns to tradition, with local production techniques used many years ago.

2-The wineryhas a commitment to the natural environment

Not only the crops must follow the ecological standards, also the rest of the production stages must be coherent with the idea of ​​taking care of the environment. In this way, the packaging of wines, labels and corks should be as natural as possible. In addition, care must be taken to be efficient and to manage waste in the best possible way.

3-The winemakeris the author, expertand responsible for the wine he has created.

4-Authenticity

The grape must express to the earth and its environment. There must be no factors that distort the natural expression of the environment in which the grape grows. The wine is not filtered or clarified, commercial yeasts or any other product are not used to accelerate or conduct the alcoholic fermentation.

5-Under no circumstances is Sulfur Anhydride or Sulfur Dioxide (SO2) used.

6-Honesty and transparency in the processes, information should not be hidden

As we see, rather than let nature act, the person in charge of the winery must always be present, pending that nothing interrupts the production process and remove any polluting factor.
